A Note

I have a confession to make.  I have just realized something that I never really figured out.  This website is something of a therapy for myself. Sure, I get the chance to exercise some webdesign skills...have a place for all those pictures and I take (and an excuse to take so many)...it's a place to show off my kids.  But there is a stranger and more unexpected side.  This site is a way to remind myself everyday to be thankful for my kids.  I have been blessed with two wonderful kids.  They are full of energy, can drive me crazy and push me to my limits.  But regardless, they are gifts to me in this life.  They are completely consuming gifts that are healthy, whole and (generally) happy.  My kids have been blessed with all the limbs, senses and mental capacities to succeed in this life.  This website is a way I force myself to remember to capture every breath and moment and be thankful to God that Liam and Quinn continue to be whole and happy. I would never love them any less should they be less than who they are today.  They are my children.  BUT there are days when I take them for granted, take my family for granted and take life for granted.  Then in a single second, news articles and countless available internet blogs jolt me to reality and remind me that my kids have been blessed with health and wholeness and happiness.  For those who read this 'blog' of sorts to keep up with the Conveys, I thank you for your interest in our family and know that we love you...just know that this is more than a picture site or bragging site.  It's a way I remember to be thankful for my kids and share them and their talents with everyone around them.

Another Note

It's been months since I've updated this site.  Too much to do and no time to do them... all I can say is that I blame it on life taking over my documenting it. I figured that there would be times like this and it seems to have finally happened.  So, that's it. No more excuses...just more resolve to spend some extra time doing these updates because it appears that people actually do read this thing and like to keep up with us.  I suppose they could also keep up with us on our Facebook pages, but there is a bit more here than on the Facebook.  So, my early resolution is to keep this more updated.

Since it's been too long since I've updated, this will be a jumbo issue update.  Last update was for July and August.  This will be September and October.  So, get comfy.  I'll try to NOT bore you rather give you some of the highlights of our last few months.

September & October

September brought us to our beloved Annual Mass on the Beach and the official start to Liam's soccer season. As I write this, October is still playing out.so it won't have Halloween pics or pumpkin patch pics because we haven't gone yet.  Those updates will have to wait until next month's update.

Annual Mass on the Beach

Every year for the last 10 (or so) years Michael and I have attended Mass on the Beach. Our church's youth group began this tradition as a special fun Sunday at the beach on Memorial Weekend. We have fun and games all day long and end with a sunset mass.  It's truly one of my most favorite masses of the year.  Once the boys were born, we continued the tradition and they each enjoy it immensely.  I enjoy watching them partake in a special occasion that I have enjoyed for so long. See here for some pictures...

Liam's Soccer

Ahhhh, the fall...The turning of the leaves, the start of various fall sports, the start of school and, for our first time ever, the start of soccer season. Liam has been wanting to play soccer for a very long time.  Michael wad delighted that Liam wanted to play.  He played soccer through most of his childhood.  Liam began practices in late August and September began the soccer game schedule.  I am officially a "soccer Mom".  It's not something I ever thought I'd call myself.  I DO NOT have the minivan to go with the title.  I, personally, have an extreme dislike for minivans. Liam has really enjoyed being on the team and playing with other kids.

Quinn Watching Liam Play Soccer

Quinn has wanted to join his brother on the soccer field but has been able to refrain from playing.  When asked if he'd like to play soccer, too, Quinn quickly responds that he can't - he doesn't have a number on his shirt.  We never told him that he couldn't play but we did tell him that he needed special shoes and shin guards so all the bigger kids don't accidentally hurt him.  His 3 year old mind told him that he had to have a number on his shirt to be able to play.  Interesting...

October

October brings the greatest time of year for most photographers and scrapbookers.  The bright and colorful turning of the leaves, the fantastic rich lighting, the great sports of the season...they all make for great pictures and great scrapbooking pictures.  Just as we entered October I ran out of time to do all of the things I really enjoyed doing at this time of year.  I am making a sincere effort to regain my footing amongst all the pictures I've taken and to take even more and capture this great time of year.

More Soccer

Soccer continues to be part of our fall days.  Liam has practice ever week and every Saturday has a game.  He has really started coming out of his shell.  With each practice and goal scored, Liam gains confidence and enjoyment of the game.  The weird weather has given us blazing heat on some weekends and the recent wet weather cancelled a practice and gave us wet, cold morning soccer fields.  To date, Liam has scored 5 goals.  It's so great watching him develop and grow to enjoy this sport.

Great News

In early October Michael and I began spreading the news that we are expecting again. We are feeling  very blessed to be having another little one join our family.  Though the timing has been kind of tough with our housing situation, we feel that we are never brought to a situation without the ability to get through it.  The Lord has always provided for us and I don't believe he's about to let us down now.

Our new little one will be a spring baby joining us in mid March.   In the beginning of October, I had an ultrasound and this time (surprise) wanted to find out if we needed spring boy clothes or spring girl clothes. The ultrasound tells us that we are going to be having another boy.  We're now researching names.  Given that our other two boys have Irish names, we'd really like to keep the tradition going and find a great Irish boy's name that isn't too difficult to say or spell, flows nicely from the tongue and has a solid meaning behind it.

Many people are asking us how the boys took the news.  The boys are very excited to meet their new brother. We prepped them for my October doctor's visit with a book about welcoming a new baby.  The book did nothing to prep them for the ultrasound they witnessed. Liam thought there was a large MP3 player with a TV screen in the examination room (such is his generation).   Quinn just stood in front of the screen waited for the scene to unfold. After asking 1 or 2 questions and getting his answers from his Daddy, it finally dawned on Liam what he was seeing.  He blurted out "Mommy!  Do you have another baby growing in your tummy??!" To which I smiled and calmed answered, "Yes, Liam.  That's right."  I was still worried that he was going to freak out so I remained calm and waited for something emotional to happen.  Thankfully, nothing did and they were both fascinated.

Birthday greetings to our friends and family who celebrated in October and will celebrate in November: Sing along if you know the song: "Thiiiiiiiiiis iiiiiiiiis your birthday song, it isn't very long!"

  • Grandpa Jack - 12 October
  • Tita Nette - 18 October
  • Becky (Mommy's friend from work) - 5 November

Lastly, this little prayer song is for you:

May the blessing of the Lord be upon you
The blessing of the Father and the Son
And may the Spirit of God, the Spirit of God
Be with you all your days!

Notes from Liam   Notes from Quinn

September

Mass on the Beach

We went to my favorite thing to do: Mass on the Beach.  It was so much fun and Quinn and I got to play all day.  The sun was warm and the water was cold.  Mommy had taken us to the beach a few times before that because she was mad that she didn't get to visit the beach much earlier in the summer.  So, instead, we went a few times between the end of July and and September.  Mass on the Beach was the last time we went to the beach this summer.  It's always like that because Mommy says that the beach gets too cold for visits after that.

I Love Soccer

Did you know that I've scored 5 goals this season?  I have so much fun playing soccer. My games are so early in the morning that I don't want to get out of my warm bed. But, Mommy and Daddy convince me to do it anyway and I'm dressed and on the field.

Buying a House

Have you ever bought a house?  Have you ever been a kid when your Mommy & Daddy were trying to buy a house??  It's BORING. Your Mommy & Daddy drive from house to house and go in and look and then we don't even buy it! Some of the houses are really small and some are really dirty.  Some barely have a backyard and some have GREAT BIG backyards.  I want a really big backyard like the kind I see on TV.  Mommy tells me that our backyard might not be quite to big because those people who have giant backyards on TV live in another state and it's cheaper to buy a giant house with a giant backyard like that.  Actually, I don't really care if we get a house, I just want a backyard with a playpark and place for a sandbox.  Oh, and I want to be able to ride my bike around with Quinn..  That's all.

September

Soccer and I Can't Play

Liam gets to play soccer this year.  I don't get to play even though Liam wants me to play with him. He has a red shirt with special shoes and things for his legs. His shirt has a number on the back. Instead of getting to play, I stay with Mommy or Daddy on the side and watch Liam practice and play with other boys who are bigger than me.  It's kind of not fair, but I don't complain.  Maybe I'll get to play next year!

Crafts and Letters

I've started up doing crafts with Liam. I've learned to cut paper! We get to do craft projects with construction paper and glue.  One day, Daddy had me lay down on a big piece of paper and drew around my body. Then I got to help cut it out of the paper and we talked about the body parts.  It was our lesson the the body. We're getting to learn more and more.  Sometimes I just want to color, though.  But since I like to color on things other than paper, Mommy & Daddy don't let me color too often unless they are there right with me.  I think when we move into our own house, they'll let me color and paint again.  For now, I get to practice cutting with scissors!

Sitting the Car All the Time

I agree with Liam, being a little kid when your Mommy and Daddy are looking for a house to buy is really boring.  I have to sit in my carseat for a long time while we drive around to different houses to look at them. When we get there, we don't usually stay a long time and then I ahve to get back in the carseat again!  It's so boring and my butt gets tired sitting!  I can't wait to get our own house so I don't have to do this anymore.
